A model dinosaur being dismantled after the New York World's Fair in 1965. More than a century after the name brontosaurus was reclassified as apatosaurus, some scientists are now arguing that it should be resurrected.
But what's in a name, really? Despite its identity crisis, life for the creature pictured here has been quite a ride. A few months after this photo was taken by the Times photographer Robert Walker, it ran on the front page of the paper. At the fair, the dinosaur had been part of the Sinclair Oil "Dinoland" exhibition, an attraction so popular it inspired a road show. And so the brontosaurus - or whatever it calls itself - went on to tour America. It now inhabits a less urban setting: Dinosaur Valley State Park in Glen Rose, Texas.
