Josh Cochran’s colorful illustration, depicting modern campus life, accompanied the Education article, “With Changing Students and Times, Colleges Are Going Back to School,” published April 5, 2018, in The Times. The article’s author, Erica L. Green, says many colleges and universities are facing a gloomy picture, painted by polls, politics and population shifts that are forcing an overhaul of campuses across the country. “Amid a growing disillusionment with higher education, thousands of institutions are seeking ways to adapt to a rapidly changing landscape that has been destabilized by skeptics, an impatient work force and a fierce conservative populist streak,” she writes.

Artist Josh Cochran grew up in Taiwan and California. He works as an illustrator based in Brooklyn specializing in bright, dense and conceptual drawings and paintings. His work has received many awards, including a Grammy nomination for album artwork. He has a number of side projects, and sometimes exhibits his work in galleries. Cochran is currently working on a children's book.
